No internet at home so I missed my Monday Moan. But Im now at Starbucks, so lets do it on a Tuesday! I often get Facebook friend requests from people that I dont know. Im sure we all do. But if I havent met the person or if I havent developed an online relationship with them, I dont accept. I just feel like the only thing we have in common is cake, and we can be as cakey as we like right here on my Page. I just try to keep my personal profile a little bit more personal. I appreciate that people want to connect - I DO - but it just doesnt sit well with me. Its a personal feeling and I hoped people respected that. I used to write a little note to the requester explaining my feelings and those that replied always said they understood. Now that requests are coming a little thicker and faster, I generally just decline. However, I am friends with a good number of cakey people. These are local folks that Ive met or guys and gals that I have known online for a long time and have an actual friendship with. I know their childrens names, their hospital appointments and where theyre going on holiday. I got a friend request last week from a lady Id never heard of. I declined. Unfortunately, this lady - lets call her June - didnt take kindly to my snub. June messaged me on my Page asking if I thought I was better than her? What made me so special? June was disgusted that I could be friends with 45 (shed counted) other cake people and yet I she wasnt good enough for me. She thought I was the rudest, most stuck up person shed ever met (except, of course, wed never met) and she couldnt believe people admired and looked up to me. She was going to Unlike my Page immediately (funny how they always do that) and she hoped I would go somewhere extremely hot underground and decompose. She didnt say those words, of course, but you get her drift. So, wow. Im sorry if youve sent me a friend request that I havent accepted and you feel the same way. Im not a totally public person. I chose my real friends as carefully as anyone else and feel the same way about my Facebook friends. Im sure some of you will have a different opinion and if you do, and youd like to share it, please, lets all be polite.
