No joke here- serious note about your internet passwords: According to news reports, a Russian hacking group has stolen 1.2 Billion passwords from about 400,000 different websites. Basically, this group used individual machines that belonged to regular users that had been compromised and formed a botnet. As these people visited websites large and small, the bots that these people unknowingly carried tested the websites security and reported weaknesses back. Then, the group used these weaknesses to download the websites entire list of usernames and passwords. That means that even if your computer was not infected, you could have had your username & password stolen. If youre the kind of user that uses only one or two passwords for everything, you are at great risk. Also, if you do use only one password, STOP IT. This trove of usernames and passwords is now on sale to the highest bidder. And the bidders are not good people. There is a decent likelihood that your username & password is included in that list. I am going to be forcing everyone here to reset your password for email and logging into the network. Additionally, you should (you really, really should) change all of your internet passwords, especially those that expose your financial information. It doesnt matter if you use a Mac, Android, IOS or PC: It was the actual websites that were breached. It was their databases that the crooks now have.
