No man is an island I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences - TopicsExpress

No man is an island I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to one of my former BEC Member at Jantjie Kabini Branch of the ANC, Cde Maepa Elias. I knew Cde Maepa long time as he was a coach at Motetema White Birds, in which their clubhouse was near my family house. Since then, I appreciated his knowledged of the game as many players were not exposed to modern coaching methods. He instilled discipline in the players then. Later as I became a student activist, we shared many platforms on ANC work. I remember, when TaTa Mandela was released, he was responsible to coordinate transport in which I attended the welcoming of Cde Mandela, the Groote Schuur Minute Rallies in Gauteng. Since then, I have inoculated in the Congress Movement politics until now........ When someone we love or someone close to us dies, it can shatter the foundations of our world and leave us feeling vulnerable and insecure. When someone dies, it turns our world upside-down and we want to assure all gather here that grieving is part of live. Yet difficult to withstand when the moment arrives. Death is part of the future for everyone. It is the last post of life and the reveille of the next. We must be enriched and consoled that we overcome death by accepting it is the will of God. Death is but a crossing the world as friends to seas. And as we gather here and now, we must all say death be not proud……. As Motetema Comrades, we must reiterate that no man is an island and indeed we are here to pay our last respect to our organizer-par-excellence. And it is sad that he is no more! It is touching to come to terms that he is no longer with us today. We know that the pain might be more deeper to family members. Perhaps, the words by one dying soldier in northern Ireland may console us all when he said; I am thousand winds away, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. I am the soft stars that shine at night Do not stand at my grave and cry! And we must all have faith that he has joined the family of our ancestors! Cde Maepa has served the organization with great aplomb since early years around 1980s in Motetema He sought to represent the membership with the necessary zeal un-equaled. Cde Maepa worked within the structures to practicalize that vision. His loyalty, commitment and diligence to the realisation of the working class hegemony could further be witnessed by the fact that he has never missed Constitutional meetings of the ANC in Motetema while we served with him. And above all he proved himself as a life-long learner through his efforts for self-cultivation and also sharing such knowledge by representing workers. May his soul rest in peace! In the rising of the sun and its going down We will remember him In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter We will remember him In the beginning of the year and when it ends So long as we live, Cde Maepa too shall live, for he is part of us And we will remember all who departed before us. Indeed no man is an island and love lives beyond goodbye………. Hamba kahle Mkhonto.............................. [singing]
