No matter how much they claim that opposites attract, it’s still very much apparent that most, if not all, people stick to their own kind, or at least with those who share even a teeny-tiny bit of similarity with them. I’m not saying that those who are complete polar opposites can’t build long-lasting relationships. Besides, I’m not about relationships here. I’m just talking about preferences. Though not many would see the graveness of this matter, I’m still bothered. My predicament is this: I’m a strong believer that man is way superior over his desires. Hence, it is us who CHOOSE what we do with our lives, what we want, and where we are headed in this world. In any case, we control what we want by setting in our minds our preferences whether consciously or otherwise. So if such were the case (which I’m pretty sure is!), then me not liking what I thought I want means that I have not truly mastered my desires. This is a big deal for me because I have this insatiable drive to be fully responsible for my own existence. So you see, I’m a bit disappointed with this realization.
