No matter what updates we acquire over time, paleo-pioneers like Zdenek Burian will always inspire dino-buffs, paleontologists, and, of course, marine terror writers such as myself. His painting of a Tylosaurus scaring the hell out of a low-flying Pteranodon is inspired. The mosasaurs behavior is also strikingly reminiscent of that of the sea serpent observed by Hans Edede, Bishop of Greenland, spotted in 1734.
