No one can deny the fact that your genetics play a huge part in your ability to burn fat and get lean. However, your genetics is only one variable. Having excess body fat is a result of many influences. Most of the factors that affect your body composition are entirely under your control. Your heredity may govern the rate of progress and ultimate level of development; but whether you like it or not, the primary cause of excess body fat is your own behavior and attitudes. I have trained many people who have lost more than 50-100 lbs and have been overweight since childhood. Regardless of your body type or genetics, if you consistently take action in the areas you can control, you will lose fat! Controllable Factors : How much you eat, what you eat, when you eat, what type of exercise you do, how frequently you exercise, how long you exercise, how hard you exercise, your overall lifestyle, your mental attitude This might offend some people, but the truth is, if you have too much body fat, it’s your fault! You are responsible! If you want to lose excess body fat and keep it off permanently you have to accept 100% responsibility for your circumstances. When you accept that it is your fault and that you are responsible you will gain power! You will start focusing on controllable factors instead of making excuses! If you continue to make excuses then you are never in control! You will be at the mercy of your circumstances instead of being a creator of your circumstances. Believing that you’re destined to be overweight because of your parents is one of the most self-defeating attitudes you could ever adopt. Life is not fair! In fitness as in other areas of your life, there will always be those who are better than you. However, it is up to you, whether you want to be the best that you can be!
