No question housing is needed for homeless, disabled, vets, families, seniors and any/all of the above WHO ARE CURRENT AUSTIN RESIDENTS unable to find shelter or priced out of the housing market. Question is, tho, with all the built-in flexibilities allowed for use of this Bond money as leverage with the FOR=profit developers to build more houses - how much of voter-approved funds will go to help needy? For example, just last week Austin Statesman newspaper announced a brand new $30 Million Townhouse development in E/Austin at Hargrave & 12th adjacent to the old City Incinerator (area fmrly a dump, lead, arsenic, etc?). - - Shortly after 2006 bonds were approved, a fmr Dir. of City Housing reportedly allocated $2+Million to a Development Corporation in which shed been a full Partner before her CoA-appt just a few years before (see Austin Statesman, Critics question deal on housing project, June 9, 2009; & City manager reassigns housing director, June 3, 2010; - & TODO Magazine, Phantom Funds: Wheres the Money?, of Aug 2010). Unresolved questions whether Federal stimulus funds given to contractors for housing rehab were misused:- - https://change.org/petitions/honorable-robert-l-pitman-inquiry-of-unresolved-issues-of-misuse-federal-funds - & why City officials have refused to respond all are basis for such an Independent Audit.-
