No stranger to live musical events in Gibraltar for over 25 years, - TopicsExpress

No stranger to live musical events in Gibraltar for over 25 years, Afterhours’ curriculum vitae is well documented with performances at song festivals, stage musicals, Millennium celebrations, numerous National Day concerts and, more recently, on the Radio Gibraltar Stage during the 2013 Gibraltar Music Festival. Originally formed in 1987, and for over two decades, the band was the most sought after group of musicians for special occasions and has been considered by many critics as one of the best covers band Gibraltar has ever seen. After a very successful comeback in 2011 with a slightly different line-up and multiple appearances in the local live music scene, Afterhours are now taking a brief break from their current rock-infused incarnation and showing a different side to themselves by providing live music for the flagship event that is the Miss Gibraltar contest. The band are reaching out to its extended family for this session by welcoming back one of the band’s founding members, Gerry Fortuna on guitars and backing vocals. Completing the band are the ever-present members, Robert A Perez. (bass and backing vocals), Trevor Guilliano (keyboards and backing vocals) and Ivan Israel (drums & percussion). Flying in from his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester especially to provide vocals for the Miss Gibraltar 2014, Jeremy John Perez is one of Gibraltar’s leading young musical talents and no stranger to sharing the stage with Afterhours. Jeremy is currently enhancing his skills further by performing extensively in the Manchester collegiate music scene and is looking forward to once again performing with Afterhours for this event. Whist Jeremy and Robert have performed at past Miss Gibraltar contests before as individual artists, this is a first for Afterhours and the band is looking forward to playing its part in what must certainly be one of the highlights of Gibraltar’s social calendar. They are grateful to the producers for innovating by ‘taking a page from the past’ and re-introducing live music as the backbone for events of this stature.
