No this not Agnes back in 1972. That strom devistated central PA becasue it stalled for several day. This storm will come up this afternoon and tonight with heavy rain. Then out of here in for the weekend. This pattern is like 1972 and 1982 with very wet Junes.. Track the pattern. Enjoy the weekend...Be safe and stay dry.! THe full discussion below.. Much of it the same as yesterday... Tropical Storm Andrea, located across South Carolina continues to track north along the I95 Corridor with heavy rain today. This storm will ride up the coast and track to Cape Cod by tomorrow morning with a couple of bands of heavy flooding rains that will accumulate 2”-4”. Flood Watch in effect until noon tomorrow as the heaviest rain will fall across the area late today and overnight with the potential for local street, poor drainage areas and basement flooding. Some computer models showing localized amounts of 4”-5” with and 1.5” -2” falling in only six (6) short hours across western areas overnight. If that verifies, major flash flooding is highly likely. It will depend on the exact track of the storm. As of this morning, the latest forecast track brings the remnants of Tropical Storm Andre off the New Jersey Coast by tonight and then onto Cape Cod by tomorrow morning. This track is conducive for heavy rains to left of the storm which is exactly where Connecticut is located. Wind will not be a factor as the strongest winds are to the right of the storm. The good news is the storm will continue to move out of our region on Saturday leaving the possibility for some sunshine to return during the afternoon hours. The rain will taper off early Saturday morning as the storm will depart the region allowing for some sun to peak through those broken clouds. High temperatures will rebound well in the 70’s with moderate humidity levels. There will be the chance for a pop-up shower Saturday afternoon and or evening, as the atmosphere become more unstable due to the daytime heating and elevated levels of humidity. Sunday will be the pick of the weekend, as the skies will become partly to mostly sunny; temperatures will warm into the 80’s. Another wet weather system will deliver more rain late Monday into Tuesday due to an upper level trough that will swing out of the Great Lakes, pivot through New England and deliver an additional one half to an inch of rain. Temperatures will average near or below normal as highs will stay in the 70’s and lows in the 50’s and 60’s. This wet weather pattern will continue through the middle of June as the overall jet stream shows a trough in the east which means unsettled wet weather, and cooler than normal temperatures, while the west will continue to experience warmer than normal temperatures and drier weather. Forecast: Today/tonight: Periods of rain, rain, heavy at times with tropical downpours. Temps averaging in the upper 50’s to low 60’s. Saturday: Lingering showers, otherwise becoming partly to mostly sunny with high in the mid-upper 70’s. Sunday: Partly sunny, warmer. Highs: in the 80’s.
