No word yet as to why Dale had seizures yesterday. Maybe we will know, maybe it was just something that happened. He did have an EEG done but we shall see what that says. They were able to start taking fluid off Dale again via dialysis so thats a plus. He also has yet another infection; a bacteria in his blood. While infections are not fun for any kid with cancer, they are especially a problem for someone who is on the vent, has weakened lungs and multi-organ failure. Several weeks ago when we asked the doctor what Dale needs to do first in order to get better he said the most important thing is to get rid of the preexisting infections and not grow any new ones. Unfortunately, Dale has grown a fair amount of infections since being down in the PICU. His immune system is just very weakened. The preexisting ones include the adenovirus, pseudmonas and the other thing they suspect is in his lungs. The last thing doesnt have a name because he hasnt been stable enough to biopsy the lungs to figure out what it is. Dale has yet to clear these. And speaking of not clearing, his adenovirus levels have gone up actually doubled his record high. I dont know what they use to measure it but his number has gone up to 4.5 million whereas 10 days ago it was in the hundreds of thousands. One time we asked How much adenovirus levels do you like to see?? hoping maybe the doctor would say something like some is ok, just not this much. Nope, he said they like to see 0, nothing, not a trace. Well, 4.5 million is far away from 0! Keep on moving forward. Pray more, worry less, live and love freer
