No words can describe, no analyses can rationalize, no insights can explain. Such is the matter of intentional killing of defenseless children by humans. This act does not seem like a matter of morality and human values. It reminds us about a world in its state of nature, before humans assigned values and morality to it. It reminds us of an unknown evil emanating from the darkest of the recesses of hell. It evokes a primordial fear that jolts the very fiber of one’s being. It hits at a place in the gut where one cannot hold back emotions; it reminds one of his one children and their death. Children have been killed before in all sorts of gruesome ways, in earthquakes, in drone attacks, in bomb blasts and shelling, but in these tragic events, a clear intention to specifically kill children is not present. Children die as a collateral. But here, the matter was different. Here the intention was to kill children. It is this intention which is more chilling than the actual act itself. How could men/humans come to a consensus to kill children? How can they plan such a ghastly act? What was the scale on which they weighed the consequences of their action, both in this world and the next? I am lost for words and thoughts. I have sadness and anger in me. I feel sad for the parents and I feel angry at the injustice. The injustice is not only that innocent human beings were killed, but that pure innocent human beings were killed by pure evil human beings. It is the sanctity of idea of innocence itself that has been violated, crushed under the big black boots. This specter of pure evil human annihilating pure innocent human will haunt me and the nation forever. Unless we restore the sanctity of pure innocent humans we will see those black boots once again.
