Noah The Characters: Russell Crowe as Noah Jennifer Connelly as Naameh, Noahs wife Ray Winstone as Tubal-cain, Noahs nemesis Emma Watson as Ila, Noahs stepdaughter and Shems wife Logan Lerman as Ham, Noahs son Anthony Hopkins as Methuselah, Noahs grandfather Douglas Booth as Shem, Noahs son Leo McHugh Carroll as Japheth, Noahs son Frank Langella as Og, a Watcher who helps Noah Movie Info: The movie starts out with a young Noah and his father, Noah is about to receive the serpent skin of the original serpent from the garden of Eden, a relic that has been passed down from generation to generation... before this can happen though, a large crowd led by Tubal-Cain approaches. Noahs father tells the child to run which he does until he can find a large rock to hide behind.. from that vantage point he watches as Tubal claims the land as his so he can turn it into a mine and then kills Noahs dad as Noah runs away. Years later Noah has matured into a decent man and has a good wife and 3 boys. Noah is troubled by some visions hes had and after having another one where he sees water covering everything and the mountain where his grandfather was known to live, feels compelled to go to the mountain. Most of the trip is uneventful until coming upon a old mine and discovering the bodies of several people that were likely scavengers. Among the dead they find a young girl with a bad wound on her stomach, as they attempt to give her aid a group of men approach so Noah and his family with the young girl as well make a run for it, running out into an area that is barren and burned with the bones of many. Noah is able to fight a few of the men but cant fight them all before getting knocked out. To his surprise when he wakes up he is being dragged behind what seems to be a moving rock structure. Noah and his family are taken into a pit and are made to wait before several of the rock creatures who are better known as Watchers (angels sent to earth to help the humans after the Creator had banished humans from Eden, but the Watchers too were punished for disobedience by the Creator, he bound them to the earth and forced them to take form as stone creatures) decide what to do with them. Its decided to just let them stay in the pit until they die... one of the Watchers though decides to help them get to their destination. Once arrived at the mountain, Noah and his oldest Shem go up to try and find Noahs grandfather, Methuselah, which they do. With his help, Noah is able to see all of the vision that he had seen part of before. Knowing now what he must do he, with a little help from the almighty, is able to enlist the help of the Watchers in building an Ark. Years go by and eventually Tubal learns of what Noah is building, arriving at the sight of the Ark he makes it known that he and his people will be aboard the Ark if and when anything happens to which Noah tells him that his kind is not welcome. Eventually the rains come and Tubal and his people attempt to board the Ark, a battle for the life of human kind literally takes place at that point. What I Thought About The Movie: To be honest, I cant say that Im all that religious of a person so Im sure that at least some of this movie I wasnt going to understand because of this. With that said, I was able for the most part to understand most of what was happening as the people that wrote the film were able to get enough information for those like me to have a general understanding of what was going on. I find it a little odd that a atheist would make a movie based on something biblical like Noah and the great flood but for what it was I think he for the most part did a fair job in telling the story. It was weird that the word God wasnt mentioned one time in the film as far as I can remember, God was always referred to as the Creator to the best of my recollection. The general consensus Ive gotten as far as what people seem to think of the movie is that if your real religious or fairly religious that you might not like the movie, mostly because of the lack of reference to God but if you are more where you dont go to church much or at all, you might enjoy it more. I did think the movie was a bit long and could of probably used a little trimming to get it closer to 2 hours instead of the 2 hours and 20 minutes that it actually ran. The movie is probably worth checking out for most of you but I imagine that some will take issue with it too. Im going to give this movie a 6 1/2 out of 10!
