Noise Health Impacts • Prolonged or excessive exposure to noise, whether in the community or at work, can cause permanent medical conditions, such as hypertension and ischaemic heart disease. (ref. [World Health Organization - WHO] Guidelines p.XII) • Noise can adversely affect performance, for example in reading, attentiveness, problem solving and memory. Deficits in performance can lead to accidents. (ref. [WHO] Guidelines p.XII) • Noise can cause hearing impairment, interfere with communication, disturb sleep, cause cardiovascular and psycho-physiological effects, reduce performance, and provoke annoyance responses and changes in social behaviour. From the (13/10/14) article: AGL has released previously secret details of how residents will be affected by noise from its Gloucester coal seam gas project. The noise management plan for the Waukivory Pilot project shows construction activities like underboring, hydraulic fracking and site preparation would generate noise levels between 30 and 71decibels. By comparison, the internal noise for a classroom, church or hospital ward is 45 decibels. The level for an active recreation area is 65decibels. ... [The World Health Organizations decibel level for disturbance of communication in school classrooms is 35; for annoyance in outdoor living areas it is 50 - 55.] theherald.au/story/2622093/agl-gloucester-coal-construction-noise-details-released/?cs=305
