Non Resident Bengalis (NRBs) The term Non Resident Bengalis in a true sense relates to those who live in other states and abroad. It could fairly be the pursuit of jobs or educational purposes for which they migrate to those places. But a strong sense of belongingness always accompanies them wherever they go. The sense of belongingness incorporates a strong feeling for one’s root. So, in a sense these NRBs simply crave for their roots. A sense of belongingness always pushes one to think more about one’s identity and one’s distinct cultural traits; for being nostalgic about one’s place of origin is truly valid for one living in a far-away land. The hectic work-schedule may not always allow them to think about their home but whenever they manage to take time out to think about their root, a sense of nostalgia always engulfs their mind.It is true that Bengal is famous for its celebration of festivals all across the globe. But unfortunate are those Bengalis, who, due to their work, cannot just take part in those prized moments of celebration,Bengal’s music, food , festival, book-fair, fashion, adda , movies and many more are a constant source of motivation for the NRB to come down this/her home town
