Nope. No birthdays again -- not in this group. However! Today IS Carl Tausigs Birthday -- his 173rd -- and we have a really interesting recording with which to celebrate him! It is performed by one of our new friends this week, Giulio Draghi, and was composed by Tausig with a dedication to his wife, the pianist Seraphine Von Vrabeln. It is fiery, isnt it? I have a thing for gypsy-themed music. Tausig was one of Franz Liszts best and favorite students. Not hard to hear his influence here.
