North Carolina (3-1) vs. Louisville (5-0) Uncasville, Conn. -- Mohegan Sun Arena Sunday, 1 p.m. ESPN (Dan Shulman, Dick Vitale) UNC Tar Heels Paige P = 5, E = 40, I = 20, M = 10 Johnson P = 100, E = 100, I = 10, M = 55 James P = 60, E = 0, I = 25, M = 40 McAdoo P = 5, E = 60, I = 95, M = 50 Tokoto P = 5, E = 80, I = 55, M = 30 Britt P = 75, E = 85, I = 10, M = 40 Hubert P = 100, E = 10, I = 75, M = 85 Simmons P = 90, E = 95, I = 30, M = 60 Meeks P = 30, E = 100, I = 80, M = 55 Hicks P = 80, E = 100, I = 55, M = 70 Davis P = 90, E = 95, I = 65, M = 85 Coach Wisdom = 15 Louisville Cardinals 3 Chris Jones (5-10, 175, Jr.) - 13.4 ppg, 3.6 apg 2 Russ Smith (6-0, 165, Sr.) - 17.0 ppg, 3.8 apg 20 Wayne Blackshear (6-5, 230, Jr.) - 11.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg 24 Montrezl Harrell (6-8, 235, So.) - 14.0 ppg, 9.8 rpg 44 Stephen Van Treese (6-9, 245, Sr.) - 3.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg 11 Luke Hancock (6-6, 200, Sr.) - 9.3 ppg, 2.5 rpg 21 Chane Behanan (6-6, 250, Jr.) - 9.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg 0 Terry Rozier (6-1, 170, Fr.) - 4.0 ppg, 1.8 apg 12 Mangok Mathiang (6-10, 200, Fr.) - 3.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg Coach Rick Pitino Frontcourt: A wiley McAdoo and an athletic Brice Johnson combine with freshmen Meeks (brains) and Hicks (brawn) to present possibilities in the paint. Joel James, Desmons Hubert, and Jackson Simmons are also strong men. All-in-all the frontcourt looks promising arc-wise. Backcourt and Wing: Marcus Paige’s marks are low. That’s the bad news. The good news is that they have altered little since yesterday (P = 0, E = 50, I = 25, M = 10 ) and his game was a winner versus the Spiders. Tokoto has spirit on his side as do Britt and Davis. The latter duo has a combined very solid biorhythmic showing. Overall: There is little wiggle room here. Louisville is the defending national champ (No Birthdates Published) and has a margin of victory so far this season that approaches 30 points. Their win over Fairfield yesterday, 71-57, was their closest contest so far. So perhaps their collective biorhythms are down right now. They have four starters averaging double figures in scoring and two more regulars that go for 9 per game. They have a three point shooter hitting at an over 45% per game clip (Blackshear) and off-the-bench Luke Hancock is no slouch either. They have a native born Tar Heel in their frontcourt lighting it up (Montrezl Harrell of Tarboro) and badboy Chane Behanan adds a touch of controversy to the squad. They swagger Big Time. For the Tar Heels to compete the stars must align. Paige must defy the odds and Britt and Davis have to respond positively to intense on the ball pressure in previously undemonstrated ways. The freshmen Meeks and Hicks must grow up instantaneously and play beyond expectations. Brice Johnson must have a better game than he did against Richmond and James Michael McAdoo must play the best game of his life inside and out. Even with the Dastardly Duo on the court a victory in this game would be a TALL order. Such a thing is pert near impossible without them. But there is an opportunity here on the part of Coach Williams and the team to show guts. Our Team Intestinal Fortitude Arc is high. It is about heart today. Keep the margin under 20 and no chins on chest and I’ll call this a positive. P.S. Take note that dookie vitale is calling this one. Speed on his irrelevance and exercise your muting function. This is the most important thing that YOU can do today.
