North East Charity Trip to the Roof of Africa North East charity NESS is looking for people to join their once in a lifetime trek to the Roof of Africa which can be found on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania at 5,695 metres around 20,000ft. The 10 day trip will leave from Aberdeen on 31st May 2014 and trekkers have to commit to raising a minimum of £2,950 for the local charity that provides support to over 4,000 people with a hearing or sight impairment here in the North East. Already signed up is fearless staff member Leona Glennie who has already Abseiled off the Forth Rail Bridge and has completed a skydive both for NESS. Despite having Ushers Syndrome which means she is profoundly deaf and has tunnel vision, she is determined to prove that Ushers is no barrier to living life to the full. Leona said “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me – I am so excited and I hope others will join me on this challenge!“ Anyone interested in signing up or wanting to find out more about the trek or ways of supporting Leona should contact Neil Skene Fundraising Co-ordinator with NESS by calling 0845 27 12345 or by email to [email protected] . Information is also available on the charities website at nesensoryservices.org.
