**** North East Update **** Well its been a busy 7 days so guess we will start this update from this time last week. The North East Outreach Area of SOTS was only started in January of this year and after the initial setting up of support services, and rehoming cases we had to set up fundraising events that make what we do possible. This time last week in Toronto, Canada we had two of our supporters complete the Edge Walk around the CN Tower. At 1168 feet above the ground Dee and Chase completed this amazing sponsored event which also showed how people can over come some of their fears. Dee suffers from PTSD and also has steel rods in her spine after breaking her back a number of years ago. That in itself made this event a challenge but add to it the complete fear of heights and our friends really did an amazing event. Friday evening saw 43 people who had travelled from all over the UK arriving in Sunderland Aircraft Museum for a Charity Haunted Sleepout. Our first major event in the North East and it proved to be a great success. So a big thanks goes to everyone who took part and thanks to Lynzi who came up with the idea of the Museum when we where looking into other locations. More events are planned and details will be released if anyone wishes to take part in the near future. Without the help and support we get we would not be able to do what we do. So on behalf of the homeless ex forces and the ones now rebuilding their lives after your support we thank you on their behalf. Some good news today is that one lad we have been working with an ex Coldstream Guard who served 3 tours in Afghan and had been sofa surfing since leaving last year got the news with the Help from the Sunderland Gateway Team that the referal we had put through has come up trumps and he now will be getting a Flat. He has a meeting with the council on Monday to complete all the paperwork then we will be checking to see exactly what is needed to get him moved in asap. The lad also got more good news this morning that after doing some tests at the Nissan Plant it looks like he is going to be offered a job which is really great news. So as you can imagine he is a pretty buzzing at the moment. A full report will be made available when we get the lad moved in. Last but not least a big thanks to Phil and Donna for all their help this week, also to Tony for the furniture donation which will be going to a new home very soon.
