Northern Pintail ISO 1600 | 370 mm | f/10 | 1/200 sec --------------------- This guy lives an hour away from me, on a small pond near Boston. He is the star of the show on that pond he shares with ring-necked ducks and mergansers, but he had been sleeping all afternoon - which was frustrating the heck out of the other photographers that were perched on the shoreline with their tripods. He finally woke up a few hours after Id arrived, right before the sun went down, after most of the other photographers had given up and gone home. Im wicked psyched about this shot, and grateful that he swam to that nice spot and even posed for me. Id never even heard of a pintail duck (or ring-necked ducks or mergansers for that matter) until this past year - and I probably wouldnt have been acquainted if I hadnt started seeing the world through the lens of my camera.
