Northern Railway PRESS RELEASE Dated: 28.11.2014 Sub: “Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan” at New Delhi Railway station. As a part of its endeavor to provide a clean environment to the travelling public, Shri Anurag Sachan, Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway/Delhi and about 40 senior officers of Delhi Division alongwith nearly 100 staff participated in the Shramdaan at New Delhi railway station today. Around twenty volunteers from M/s. Deloitte Haskins & Sells, Gurgaon also participated in this drive as a part of their Social responsibility. This Shramdaan was organised as part of the ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan’ launched on 2nd of October, 2014 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. The public toilets in the Ajmeri gate circulating area (Deluxe toilets & Sulabh Shauchalaya) were also inspected. The employees deployed at these toilets were instructed to keep them clean and ensure adequate water supply at all times. Those indulging in littering were hauled up. The Divisional Officers have decided to take up this drive on a sustained basis at this station. Shri Anurag Sachan, Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway/Delhi also requested the travelling public to cooperate and use dustbins to keep railway premises clean. However, people found dirtying/littering railway premises will be penalized. During the months of October and November 2014, 8,690 people were penalized and Rs 8,86,900/- was realized as fine for littering/dirtying station premises over Delhi Division.
