Northfield Park to Host Ohio Sires Stake Freshman Colts on July 3 On Wednesday, July 3 Northfield Park offers guests the opportunity to start their holiday off right with stakes racing action. Fans will see five divisions of Ohio Sires Stake racing action as part of Wednesday’s 13-race program. Freshman colt trotters will start Wednesday’s stake action in Race 2 for the $30,000 first division. A Brilliant Idea (Chip Chip Hooray-Master’s Mischief-Master Lavec) is the morning-line favorite for owner Gene Turner of Vienna, West Virginia. Eric Nesselroad is the gelding’s trainer and has enlisted the services of Northfield Park’s leading driver, Chris Page. A Brilliant Idea makes his first lifetime start, but shows three qualifying efforts at Scioto Downs, the fastest being timed in 2:02. A Brilliant Idea will start from post two. Also competing in the first division will be Noah Count, Fridayscomin, Smart Train, Lu’s Neely, Can’tcutthatchip and Mainstreet Willy. Race 3 will be the $30,000 first division for two-year old colt Ohio-bred pacers. Trainer Ron Burke will start Dibs (Pine Valley-CG’s Gem-Shady Character) as the 6-5 heavy morning-line favorite. Dibs starts from post two and faces six rivals. Dibs shows one race-line, an impressive 1:55.4 victory at The Meadows. Tony Hall is scheduled to drive for owners Burke Racing Stables, Bruscemi, Melino and Suda. Player’s King, Nolan’s Flash, Hawks Cry Hoboken, Clarksville Boy, Friskie Adam and Jakinator complete the line-up. Trotters return to the stage in Race 5 for the $30,000 second division Ohio Sire Stakes. Bradymeister (Good Time Georgio-Miss Payton-Donerail) is the 9-5 morning-line favorite for owners Dean Davis and James Snyder, both of Wooster, Ohio. Kurt Sugg is the colt’s trainer and driver. Bradymeister has two qualifying lines and both appear to be impressive first-place finishes. Sugg will start the trotter from post-two in a field that consists of Fiftyshades Of Nay, Soul Train, Rompaway Galaxy, Heres Lookinatukid, Master Mighty, and Happy Go Jamie. Pacers again compete in Race 6 for the $30,000 second division of the Ohio Sires Stakes. Rocket Beau (Pine Valley-Sunny Sally-Falcon Almahurst) starts from the rail and is the morning-line favorite. He is owned by Jennifer and Beau Brown of Upper Sandusky, Ohio and is trained by Brian Brown. Brown has called upon Chris Page to drive. This gelding has qualified one time, finishing second and pacing in 1:58 at Scioto Downs. Rocket Beau’s rivals consist of Two Will Forever, Feel Like Autumn, Buckeye Dreamer, Feel The Heat, Upfront Clays Boy and CR Friskie. Race 8 starts the evening’s $10,000 guaranteed Pick-4 and will host the final Ohio Sires Stake race of the evening with the $30,000 third division for two year-old colt pacers. Chance I Might (Stand Forever-Nature’s Course-Precious Bunny) ships in for owner Rebecca Dwyer of Jamestown, Ohio. Jim Dailey trains the colt and uses Tony Hall to drive. This freshman has raced one time, finishing second, pacing in 1:57 at Scioto Downs. Chance I Might starts from post-2 in a talented field consisting of Feelin Speedy, Friskie Shadow, Led Schneppelin, Up Fast Feelin, Osborne’s Angel and Padre Davo.
