Answer is: yes he did . Well let us see how he claimed himself as God. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John-, Chapter - 8 54 Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. 55 Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.” 57 “You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!” 58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” 59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. ******************************************* Jesus clearly says: he knows God , says: Abraham rejoiced oved the thought of Jesuss day, When asked what does it mean , Jesus replies: Before Abraham he was existing. ****************************************** To Muslims , I ask: What do those sentences mean ? Does it mean Jesus was just another simple prophet like others ? If such is the case , how can he claim he knows God ? which human being can claim that he really knows God ? Finally , how can Jesus claim that he was existing before Abraham when Abraham was born almost 2000 years before than Jesus ? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well again we can read the following verses : John, Chapter - 10 25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[c]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.” 31 Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, 32 but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?” 33 “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.” *********************************************** Here, Jesus is claiming he can give people eternal life ( 10: 28) , who can give a human being eternal life ? Only God can give the eternal life , Now Jesus claims he too can give eternal life , so who is Jesus ? Finally , Jewish were stoning to Jesus, why ? They clearly said they were stoning to him as Jesus claimed to be God. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why Jesus died in crucifixion is another issue , that can be explained later on , but now Muslims should stop asking this silly question for ever : Did Jesus claim himself to be God ?
