Not Only Rice but also Agricultural Produces to be exported to Japan IMG_20130329_170026Japan has planned to not only provide technical support and machines required for developing agricultural sector but also help in extending rice export, according to Ministry of Commerce. “They [Japanese] pledged to help in agricultural sector from cultivation to export market. Japanese seeds have been grown in Naypyidaw. We’re still studying to upgrade rice mills,” said an official of Ministry of Commerce. Two countries have agreed to make sure that rice is more exported in the next year than a total ton of rice delivered in 2013 and Myanmar has planned to export not only rice but also other agricultural produces. “No matter what agreements they have reached, the authorities need not to control export permits as they used to do before. No one benefits form it if only elites have opportunity to get export permits,’ said a rice broker of Bayintnaung commodity exchange. If only Myanmar is able to export rice to not only Japanese market but also global market on providing Japanese rice seeds to Myanmar, merchants and farmers can benefit from that, he added. In 2013, Myanmar has already sent around 5,000 tons of rice to Japan, which has been providing various supports for it.
