Not a Rant: For some readers the spectrum of political ideology is rarely considered. Rhetoric issued by leftist journalists and/or others might be offensive, even painful when the language used reflects ideals/concepts that dont fit our world view, our paradigm, and we tune out. However, if we only allow ourselves exposure to the manufactured truths issued by corporate media how can we evaluate our world view? After all, the medium is the message. Some of us will remember Lt. Col. Oliver North and the Iran-Contra Affair but, how many of us remember Robert Parry? Mr. Parry is the investigative journalist who worked to expose Oliver North and that the US State Department, CIA and Contras were involved in trafficking cocaine, provided the Contras with an assassination manual and that the White House (Reagan Admin.) ordered the NSC to cover it up. This story was almost impossible to believe. What, the US is involved in dealing cocaine? However, it is unfortunately true, and Mr. Parry worked at personal risk to inform the public of this scandal. Robert Parry is a recipient of the George Polk Award. He worked for the AP and Newsweek and left both as a result of conflict...they would not publish, or wanted to retract, his stories. If you are looking for balanced journalism, I suggested you expand your world view, or not, through Consortium News. Robert Parry is its founder.
