Not doing what the hadeeth says ( part 2) Many people when they - TopicsExpress

Not doing what the hadeeth says ( part 2) Many people when they hear or read a hadeeth are very quick to criticise others who appear to be doing something which is contrary to this particular hadeeth, not knowing that what they think is contradictory to the particular narration is also permissible or even probably more sound. Previously an example was given where Hazrat Ali radhi Allaho anho was told to do something by the prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallam himself ( to cross out Rasoolullah from the writing) but Hazrat Ali replied, I swear by Allah I will NOT cross it out. There is another incident reported in a number of books again with an authentic chain and by a number of companions in Saheeh Bukhari and Muslim that, Rasoolullah sallallaho alaihe wasallam sent some people to the settlement of Banu Quraidhah ( a tribe of jews settled at Khaybar) and said to them, None of you should pray Asr except in Banu Quraidhah. When they were on their way, they found the time of Asr passing by so some of them prayed while others said, we will not pray until we reach Banu Quraidhah. The matter was reported to the prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallam and he did not admonish any of them. Hence accepting both interpretations of what the prophet had said, even though one group of sahaabah clearly seemed to do exactly what the prophet told them NOT TO DO. The group who did not pray were obviously doing what the prophet had said but the other group thought that the prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallam had really wanted that they leave early in good time so that they can reach Banu Quraidhah in time for Asr. But because they had become delayed hence not been able to do what the prophet really wanted, but it doesnt mean that now they should miss their prayer or at least put their prayer in danger of being missed. The same incident is mentioned in Saheeh Muslim as well but for Zohar prayer. The beloved prophet of Allah approved the practice of both the groups and not issued a fatwa or warning against them of the type people do these days... How dare you do something , I clearly told you not to .... By Shaikh Mumtaz ul Haq
