Not everyone concerns themselves with science and evidence. - TopicsExpress

Not everyone concerns themselves with science and evidence. Consumers in health and fitness seem to be more motivated by emotion and sizzle. That said, individuals who present themselves as authorities in health and fitness have much greater responsibilities. People advising others in matters of health and fitness should absolutely, positively investigate their claims and learn the basics of research. It is their ethical duty to spend time and energy making sure that theyre basing their claims on the available evidence to date, assuming such evidence exists. At the very least, authorities should learn to sift through PubMed and Google Scholar and possess a rudimentary understanding of research methodology. Failure to do so is not only unethical and irresponsible; its also inefficient in terms of promoting the forward progress of public health and fitness knowledge.
