Not everything is political. Some things are just human. Somebody is hurt; somebody is in pain. What goes through your head? Do you help or not help? How do you help? Is it moral to help? Will your assistance be used properly? If you help now, will that detract from your ability to help someone else later? Does helping this person amount to succumbing to peer pressure? Will your assistance actually matter? What if its a scam? What will you lose if you help them? Others are already helping them, so what difference would my assistance make? Are there other people in equal or greater or lesser pain that I should be helping instead? Are there 10 people over there I should be helping instead of this one? If we all help this one person, are we hurting others who could use our help too? If this was my sister, my brother, my friend, my mother, my father would I hesitate like this? I dont know the answers to these questions. I think them myself. Im wondering is all. Pondering the nature of our simian brains, our jaded hearts, our empathic abilities.
