Not going to argue whether God, or Jesus for that matter, exists. That is an argument that cannot be won for the simple fact that either belief is faith based. Instead lets consider what IS faith? Faith is the unshakable belief in something that cannot be proven. Religious faith has the sole purpose of defining what your existence will become AFTER life has ended. Therefore faith truly has no meaning in life except to dictate how you live your life based on the tenets and moral doctrine outlined in your religious belief. Which brings up the next question. What is religion? All human religion since the beginning of mans ability to reason exist for a few basic reasons. 1) to explain the unexplainable or unknowable. 2) to dictate how you should live and act toward others in order to maintain a relatively peaceful society. Basically defining morality. 3) to assuage fear of death by promising a peaceful continued existence after death provided that you have lived your life according to the teachings and morality dictated by that religion. 4) coercing you to adhere to said teachings and morality through instilling a fear of what your post life existence will be if you do not. Thereby establishing societal control over the many by the few. If you remove any one of these basic principles any religion ceases to function. -Keith Brown BOOM!
