Not only do I remember this store, it was my first job in La Crosse, WI. I decorated windows and printed the signs, in the basement of the store. I also had my first flasher come through the back door, my first firing from a job, my first love of my life picked me up after the store closed at 9:00 p.m. They had a lunch counter, and a great apple dumpling with a wonderful sauce over the top. I learned to count change, and I started buying my own clothes… wow, I was really something else, I thought I was really hot stuff. Some of the customers are still etched in my mind as if they just walked through the doors. The time clock, punching in and out for lunch …. I stared to smoke… Pal Mals, unfiltered… oh boy I was cool.
