Not only is believing in free will dangerous, it is denying - TopicsExpress

Not only is believing in free will dangerous, it is denying yourself a beautiful cartload of possibilities. If a person just stumbles through life disregarding causal factors like situation, peer pressure, institutional variables, and inherent psychological foibles, then they are bound to be prey to a thousand different ailments in life-- all in the midst of the delusion of thinking theyre free. Me, I know that I am only free in so much as I know. For instance, is a child artist, who colors with reds, yellows, greens, purples, oranges, browns, and blacks as free as a master painter who employs malachites, vermillions, ceruleans, gambogs, fallows, and xanadus? Of course not! The point being, we are only free to choose within the spectrum of what we KNOW. Choosing, deciding, evaluating, judging, referring-- all of those things are informational based processes which are only as powerful as the parameters youve allowed access to that particular function. You cannot choose beyond what you do not know. And knowing itself is organic-- it is osmosis-- it occurs without your prompting, without your will, and without your personal preference. You cannot choose to not know any more than one could choose to know a thing differently than the way their brain processes that information. One cannot see blacks where there are reds, just as one cannot feel love where there is none to be found. True strength, true sagacity, comes from knowing your limitations-- for in knowing them, you are no longer limited by them. Freedom evolves, it is informational, it is accruing... but most importantly, it is emergent. Hope you guys have a great, informationally fused day. With Case, Johnny, Tom, Lucy, Cody and Sara. =)
