Not quite two months ago, Fuzzy Friends was asked to help when a lady reached out to rescuers - she was overwhelmed with the number of dogs she had, and wanted them all gone, but could not afford to surrender them to a shelter, nor could she afford to vet or feed them. The day that rescuers went out to round up the dogs, one of them had puppies, which she promptly hid somewhere unreachable. Domino, with the cherry eye (now repaired) was the first dog brought to us. He tested high positive for heartworms and is on his second round of treatment, but should be available in a few weeks. Unbelievably, Diamond, the mama dog, provided us with much more nail-biting, even without heartworms! She was left at the house with people bringing her food, in hopes that she would bring the puppies out. Wires got crossed between people, and someone, believing all the pups to be dead, picked up Diamond and brought her to FFR. Two days later, we got a frantic call that her puppies were located, and two were still alive - it was a rush to bring them to us! But even more astonishing, two days after that, two MORE puppies were found, remarkably still alive! After a frantic drive across town to get to Deuce and Divine, the last two, in time, we had the whole family! In order, meet Domino, age two; Diamond, age 1 1/2; and the babies, born 8/10/14: Dice, Decker, Deuce, and Little Miss Divine! They appear to be Schnauzer/Bassett or Schnauzer/Dachshund mixes. Adoption fees are $185 each with an approved application - we are looking for secure inside homes where they wont be given the chance to roam, and where they will be kept current on yearly vaccines and ESPECIALLY monthly heartworm prevention. Domino would have died if he had been left where he was much longer! For the puppies, in particular, we also require applicants to show previous pet history with vet records indicating they were the primary caregiver for at least one previous pet. If you would like to add one of these darlings to your home, or know someone extraordinary who would like to adopt, please email adopt@fuzzyfriendsrescue
