Not sure how most people do the first week of school, but in the Holland household we go from no set bedtime for two and a half months to going back to our school bedtimes cold turkey. Which means lying in bed for a couple hours trying to fall asleep followed by getting up two hours earlier than we have all summer. Fun on the first day when youre full of excitement about the new year; hard to sustain once the novelty wears off and the fatigue kicks in. Mix in a full week at work (which Im very thankful for), starting Camp Gladiator at 5:30 Wednesday morning (WHAT was I thinking????), and 3 (yes, THREE) softball games this week, and Im pretty sure weve got a recipe for disaster. Which is why Im praying for rain. As in a downpour. Directly over Cargill Park. As in the-fields-are-flooded-and-tonights-and-maybe-tomorrows-games-are-canceled kind of rain. And Im hoping that if you have any kind of tender thoughts toward me (or my kids or husband- who, lets face it, have to deal with me when I lose it later on this week, which at some point Im sure I will), that you will pray for the same. Because as much as I LOVE softball, I kinda love my sanity more.
