Not to make light of the fire at our house but yesterday was great - TopicsExpress

Not to make light of the fire at our house but yesterday was great example of perspective and composure in life. I want to relay a few of yesterdays events that show me again what a life in the NYPD does to you. First we get a call while out for lunch from our good friend Rich Bohn another NYPD guy who says this hey so i got the capelli beef at king kullen today what are you guys doing? by the way i past your house and there is a small brush fire on the side of the road. Lisa Tretter Minogue is it bad? Rich no its small like two feet high. So we head home to check out the small brush fire. About 1/4 mile from the house we see plumes of smoke about 60- 70 feet high in the distance. We arrive at the block but its closed off and we can hardly make out the houses. I id myself (you know what i mean) and the guy shutting the street looks at me and says alright but dont get killed I turn into the driveway but you cant even see the house. We get up to the house open the garage and go in I grab the dog the fire box Lisa gets the kids guinea pig and the laptop. Now i look out the window and you cant even see out its like being in the clouds that how thick the smoke is. As i listen i can hear crakling burning trees. I call Lisa and say Lisa we gotta go i think yard is on fire She looks out the window and says holy shit its right up to the house, alright thats every thing lets go but wait one second i want to go to the bathroom So I wait. Two min later we leave the house get back in the car and pull down the driveway. At the corner Lisa says to the fireman hey my whole yard is on fire and he says were doing the best we can and she yells back well do better Then it dawns on me if i cook a pan of bacon in the kitchen the alarms go off everytime blasting FIRE FIRE FIRE but today while my entire house and neighbor hood is covered in smoke not a peep.
