Not written by me, but by Mr. Bryson, Good thinking, Pat. For some reason I love to argue with atheists. I find their beliefs ridiculous. Atheists claim that Christians believe in God because they are afraid to face the nothingness that comes after death. That’s stupid and backward. People embrace atheism for two reasons: First, they are too egotistical to believe that there is a being greater than themselves. Second, if such a being exists it makes them accountable for their actions. Being judged and having consequences terrifies them. They find peace in the idea that there are no rules and that their actions have no eternal meaning. If there is no God, as they believe, the scriptures, the commandments, even “Thou shall not kill” are nothing more than inventions of men. Therefore they carry no weight or moral consequences. Atheists fail to realize that even they worship and exercise faith. As Christians our faith is in the true and living God and his Son. The atheists, on the other hand, worship men. They have invested their faith in flawed humans. For example, when Darwin published Origin of the Species in 1859, those who followed him said, “We know his theories are true and they will be proven once we able to study the fossil record more closely.” Well it’s 155 years later and we’re still not close to proving Darwin’s theory by our study of the fossil records. Still men say, “ We know Darwin was right and we believe his ideas will be vindicated eventually through the fossil records.” That sounds like a testimony to me. It sounds like an expression of faith, not in the Almighty, but in a man who has been hailed by other flawed humans as a genius. We all exercise faith, just in different things. Revisionist love to paint Hitler as a wacko Christian. Nothing could be more false. Although no direct link between Hitler and Darwin can be found, Europe as a whole and the people Hitler surrounded himself with believed that Darwin was right, therefore the commandments were the inventions of men and could be disregarded. Euthanasia was a good, even righteous practice. There is, however, a direct link between Hitler and Friedrich Nietzsche. Hitler preach the doctrines of Nietzsche and even gave volumes of Nietzsche’s works as gifts to his closest friends. Nietzsche disagreed with Darwin in many respects, but both believed that there was no god. In his book Thus Spake Zarathustra Nietzsche proclaimed that “God is Dead.” Man, according to Nietzsche, was or would become god. People want to believe that Hitler was insane, because it’s easier to believe that only a crazy man would cause such misery and death. Hitler was mad at the end, after he suffered several strokes. When his believes were formed and his plans implemented, however, Hitler was sane. Furthermore he was a man of morals and ethics. They were warped and inhuman ethics, because Hitler believed in Nietzsche and Darwin, who proclaimed that man could disregard “Thou Shall Not Kill,” while making the supreme commandment Darwin’s theory of natural selection, or survival of the fittest. The greatest thing Hitler could do for mankind was to preserve the strength of the human species by killing the weak who might dilute the intelligence and strength of the race. That was to be his greatest work, or so he assumed. Atheists have their gods, their beliefs and their testimonies. However, whether they recognize it or not, their gods are men, flawed, arrogant and stupid. Our God is the one true Almighty God, whose Son died on the cross to wash away the sins of men. It takes strength and courage to be a Christian. It takes denial, self deception and misplaced trust to be an atheist
