Notary Public Class at JSCC on Saturday The Continuing Education Division of James Sprunt Community College will hold a Notary Public class Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. in room 210 of the Boyette Building on campus. This is a seven-hour class, and all students are required to pass a written exam approved by the North Carolina Secretary of State with a score of 80% or better. In order to qualify to become a NC Notary Public, individuals must be at least 18 years of age or legally emancipated as defined in Article 35 of Chapter 7B of the NC General Statutes; must reside or have a regular place of work or business in this state; must reside legally in the United States; must speak, read, and write the English language; and must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. All students must pre-register by paying for the class in advance and purchasing their book prior to the day of class. The cost for the class is $65 plus $1.50 student insurance fee and the cost for the North Carolina Notary Public Guidebook is $25. The book may be purchased in the JSCC Bookstore prior to class.
