Noteworthy K-9 Activity K-9 Team Assists Wenham Police Locating Man Wanted for Kidnapping On Friday night, 8-1-14, just before 11:00 p.m., Sergeant Pat Silva & K-9 Charbo, Tpr. Brian McKenna & K-9 Drago and Tpr. Paul Conneely & K-9 Aengus all responded to Wenham to assist Wenham Police with a search for a subject wanted for an alleged kidnapping. The wanted subject had been released from jail earlier in the day, had sliced his girlfriend’s mother with a knife, and then forced his girlfriend to leave with him at knifepoint. The subject and victim gained entry to a house down the street from the mothers house. Upon arrival of troopers at the scene, the subject and girlfriend fled out the back door. Sgt. Silva located the girlfriend in a nearby back yard and called EMS for her, then started a track with K-9 Charbo and Tpr. Conneely as backup. Tpr. McKenna arrived on scene and deployed K-9 Drago on a yard-to-yard scout of the neighborhood. K-9 Drago alerted on a basement door and the homeowner advised that no one was supposed to be in the basement. Tpr. McKenna made K-9 announcements at the threshold and the subject voluntarily came out and surrendered. Wenham Police took custody of the subject and charged him with Kidnapping, Assault & Batter with a Dangerous Weapon and Threats to Commit Murder. Tpr Conneely & K-9 Aengus Locate Missing Endangered Elderly Man On Saturday morning, 8-2-14, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Tpr. Paul Conneely along with K-9 Aengus stopped a vehicle on I-93 in Burlington after observing that the rear windshield was blown out and the vehicle was traveling at a low rate of speed for the highway. Tpr. Conneely observed that the elderly operator appeared to be confused and disoriented. A check revealed that the operators family had reported him as missing and endangered. Family members were contacted and came to the scene to take custody of the subject. Tpr. Conneely subsequently learned that the man was a U.S. Marine, and decorated combat veteran of WWII.
