Nothing else but Public Welfare Policies! mohsinjamilbaig There is no state in the world without crisis but only difference among these is its polity and seasoned statesmen to deal these amicably. This is real world where all the players with only intent to make their share maximum through ‘pragmatism’ intended at ‘public welfare’ only. Only those states prosper and develop where ‘real public representatives’ reach to Parliaments and legislate the policies and laws. This ‘public legitimacy’ empowers its polity to take firm stance to ensure ‘safety and security’ of its people. But unfortunately, in Pakistan even after more than six decades, polity yet to secure ‘public trust’. It looks towards US and other players for their rule and policies rather its own people. Every time, lofty claims are made to alter the fate of Pakistan, turning it into ‘paradise’, implementing meritocracy and rule of law but yet to see anything achieved. Every day, news headlines are with new stories of corruption, suicide blasts and criminal negligence. How long this show will continue? Will there be stop in inflation, price-hike and load-shedding? Will that day come when the whole polity to rethink and develop consensus on terrorism which is hurting the Pakistan the most? What people supposed to do, they did as gave mandate to Parliament to legislate and devise policies for ensuring their ‘safety and security’: be it physical or economic. This is high time for the govt as well to win back the shattering confidence of public on different account like load shedding, inflation and drones. ‘Pakistan is blessed immensely in all aspects of life’ is the most cited and quoted phrase then why we are away from that ‘development and prosperity’? That’s true as well. Agreed but where is the solution? The simplest answer to this puzzle is what is hindering to make that dream true is severe lack of ‘honest leadership with unrelenting commitment’. Leaders take firm decisions and don’t live in confusions. No matter, what are issues tell the nation honestly and win its minds and hearts through opting the ‘public welfare policing’. If govt doesn’t make policies according to whims and wishes of people, sooner it will invite agitation and augur its opposition to march on roads. This will not only cost the credibility but also hurt the Pakistan in longer term. So no other than welfare policing is a wayout to keep the public trust intact.
