Notice to Town Residents Property Owners & Tenants Kurt Allen- Hamburg Building Inspection and Code Enforcement Due to this unprecedented snow event there currently exists unsafe conditions associated with snow loads on roof structures. These snow loads have already resulted in the collapse of a handful of buildings in addition to compromising the structural integrity of many others. The Town of Hamburg is making every effort to address these dangerous and unsafe conditions. In doing so the Town of Hamburg strongly recommends it’s residents to exercise extreme caution when removing snow off roofs. Do not put yourself at risk of injury in the process of snow removal. Make every attempt to obtain help and if you can, contract a qualified professional to assist. In addition, the Town is reaching out to all Owner/tenants of buildings with flat roofs to make a damage assessment of your roof structure and avoid occupying any building that poses a risk until it has been verified that all issues have been addressed and properly mitigated. Please consult with a design professional or certified engineer if necessary. Despite the fact the snow has discontinued these conditions will persist or may even worsen depending on the amount of rain that we receive as it is predicted. The Town will see that aid is available to insure your safety during these difficult circumstances.
