November 14, 2013 SATURDAY ELECTION REMINDERS Secretary of State Tom Schedler reminds everyone that this SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH is Election Day in many parishes across the state. Eligible voters will be casting ballots for municipal elections as well as a runoff in the 5th Congressional District beginning at 7:00 A.M. In preparation for Saturday’s election activities, Secretary Schedler is encouraging voters to remember: · Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. · Sample Ballots can be reviewed by downloading the Geaux Vote app for smartphones or by visiting sos.la.gov. · Election results can now be viewed in real-time via the Geaux Vote app. This new feature allows voters to get results on the go, anywhere, anytime! · Election results (in several formats) will also be posted in real-time on the Secretary of State’s website, sos.la.gov. **Remember to allow several minutes for the page to refresh on its own to avoid over-loading the site.** · Voters can also sign up for text alerts on Election Day via the Geaux Vote smartphone app. “There are several races throughout the state that have garnered a lot of attention and early voting activity,” says Secretary of State Tom Schedler. “Now is the time to educate yourself about what’s on the ballot so you can make your choices on Saturday.” Elections will be held on Saturday in the following 39 parishes: Avoyelles, Bienville, Calcasieu, Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, East Baton Rouge, East Carroll, East Feliciana, Franklin, Grant, Jackson, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lafourche, LaSalle, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Orleans, Ouachita, Plaquemines, Rapides, Richland, St. Helena, St. John the Baptist, St. Landry, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Tensas, Terrebonne, Vernon, Washington, Webster, West Baton Rouge, West Carroll, West Feliciana and Winn. The following parishes are included in the 5th congressional district election: Avoyelles, Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, East Carroll, Franklin, Grant, Jackson, LaSalle, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Rapides, Richland, Tensas, Washington, West Carroll, West Feliciana and Winn as well as parts of East Feliciana, St. Helena, St. Landry and Tangipahoa.
