This is described as a sharp dispute and debate. It was the Pharisees that stood up demanding the fulfillment of the Old covenant but Peter made it clear that the New covenant was that salvation comes from hearing the gospel and believing. My salvation came when I said: “Lord I believe in you”. I was saved by simple child-like faith and not by works.
