November 3, 1979 - 35 Years Ago Today: Michael Jackson debuted at No. 76 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his single, Rock With You. This was the second single to be released from Jacksons multi-Platinum solo album, Off The Wall, which established the entertainer as one of the brightest R&B/Pop singers of the era and eventually, of all time. The single followed the No. 1 smash hit, Dont Stop Til You Get Enough which also enjoyed a five-week run at No. 1 on the Billboard R&B chart. Rock With You bested the previous single spending four weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 beginning January 19, 1980 and 6 weeks atop the R&B chart. Both singles were certified Platinum. Jackson scored two more Top Tens from the album, the title track and the ballad, Shes Out Of My Life, both reaching No. 10 and certified Gold. Original picture sleeve posted below on this music page.
