November 9 and 10, 2014, marks the 76th anniversary of Kristallnacht -- The Night of Broken Glass. We should remember that on those days in 1938, Hitler and the Nazis began to unleash hate and murder on an unprecedented scale, which became known as the Holocaust. CANDLES docent Walter Sommers lived in Germany and describes the violence he witnessed on Kristallnacht in his presentations every Friday at 1:00 p.m. And as we mark Veterans Day on November 11, we should remember and honor the soldiers who liberated the camps and who work hard to help people today. The evil and suffering that was perpetrated during the Holocaust still echoes in our world today. Anytime we see evil raising its ugly head, we should make every effort possible to stop it. As statesman and philosopher Edmund Burke said, The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing. So lets work together to eliminate hatred and prejudice from this world.
