November Executive Director Letter: Over the past fifty years a segment of our population has rigorously toiled to change our system of laws to serve a world view at odds with the simple junior high school version of “we the people” and “land of the free” which many of us grew up with. In our literature, and our movies, we continue to adhere to those messages; that the United States is the place where the individual is protected by our laws, by the rule of law. The fallacies of its uneven application make for good theater, and in most of our entertainment, by the end of the story our morals and values are upheld and even those Americans of Asian, Latino or African heritage see justice prevail. But of course, this is only in fiction.
