November has been the month for awards, and many Leadership Music alums were among those receiving recognition. We add our heartiest congratulations for all the well-deserved honors: ASCAP: Mark Bright (LM ‘00) and Chris Dubois (LM ‘04) were writers of two of the Most Performed Songs. One of our corporate donors, Warner Chappell Music, was named Publisher of the Year. BMI: Among the writers of the Most Performed Songs were Josh Leo (LM’92), Jon Randall (LM ’09), John Ozier (LM ’12), Bob DiPiero (LM ‘94) and Jim McCormick (LM ’13). Another corporate donor, Sony ATV Publishing, continued its decade-long streak as Publisher of the Year. SESAC: Monty Powell (LM ’96) received a Performance Activity Award as did Tammy Rogers (LM ‘99) and Thomm Jutz (LM ’13). NSAI: Bluebird Café founder, Amy Kurland (LM’98) received the Frances Williams Preston Mentor Award. John Ozier (LM ’12) was a co-writer on “Hard to Love,” one of the 10 songs chosen as the Songs I Wish I’d Written.” CMA SRO Awards: Former LM president Jamie Cheek (LM ‘04) was named Business Manager of the Year while Rod Essig (LM ‘97) was named Talent Agent of the Year. The Ryman Auditorium, a corporate donor, continued its winning ways by being singled out as Venue of the Year. CMA Awards: Producer Scott Hendricks (LM ‘90) accepted for producing Blake Shelton’s Album of the Year, . In other CMA industry awards, Deborah Evans-Price (LM ‘02) received The Media Achievement Award and Nashville Mayor Karl Dean (LM ’10) received CMA Founding President Award. At the 2013 NEXT Awards, part of the Billboard Touring Conference in New York City, Marcie Allen (LM ‘04) received the prestigious Humanitarian Award, and her company, MAC Presents won the Concert Marketing and Promotion Award for the Rolling Stones + Citi 50 & Counting Tour.
