November is National Adoption month. Just to set the record - TopicsExpress

November is National Adoption month. Just to set the record straight, we officially have not adopted any babies/children yet. We are still in the process. I will tell you though that when we became foster parents, we both only wanted young toddlers or babies. We absolutely didnt have any desire for any child over 3 at most. We were scared of the possible baggage of emotions and behaviors they would come with. I want to set the record straight, we love baby girl and lil man the exact same amount. I honestly wasnt totally sure of this until today when a situation arose and his heart was broke. I now know God changed my heart about not wanting an older child so that lil man could come to our home. When this situation arose, momma bear came out in me. I just want to take all his hurt and make it never have happened, but I cant. I can be his rock though, I can be proud to be the mommy walking through this experience with him. I can also be a testament that taking in an older child is just as rewarding as taking in a baby. I wouldnt trade either baby girl or lil man. I truly believe God brought them both to us for specific reasons. I cant wait til baby girl is officially ours. I have no idea if lil man will be ours forever, but I am so proud to be the mommy that is walking with him through this journey of his life. I urge you who read this to consider becoming foster parents, adopting through the foster system or private system if you prefer. It is a huge commitment and the state and their rules can be a pain, but at the end of the day when they both want us to put them to bed or come to us with their problems, it makes it all worth it. I truly believe that if more Christians stepped up and fostered and adopted, our world, our country, our state and our community could hugely be impacted for the better. Thanks and God Bless!
