November is National Healthy Skin Month, and with harsh winter weather right around the corner, it is important to protect your skin. Here are some tips to keep your skin healthy no matter the season! -Wear sunscreen daily. An SPF of 15 is necessary. -Avoid tanning beds. Just one use of a tanning bed can increase your risk of melanoma (skin cancer) by 75%. -Moisturize skin twice daily. A good moisturizer will create an effective seal, keeping skin hydrated. -Stop smoking. Smoking causes premature wrinkling of the skin & kills blood flow which decreases skins elasticity and ability to receive nutrients. -Perform spot checks. Skin cancer is on the rise, in the United States especially. The ABCDEs of moles are effective to determine whether or not a mole is dangerous. -Eat a well-balanced, and colorful, diet. Food nutrients are crucial to good skin health, especially those found in fruits and vegetables. For more information, check out the American Academy of Dermatology - https://aad.org/for-the-public
