November is National Homeless Teen Awareness Month. During the 2012-13 school year KPBSD had 44 unaccompanied homeless 13-22 year olds attending their Central Peninsula Jr./Sr. High Schools. FOURTY FOUR!! My thought: how many dont go to school? We estimate, along with other agencies that the number doubles!! I am determined to see these numbers dwindle till every single unaccompanied homeless teen is in a healthy enviroment where they can grow into a healthy individual, no matter if its a treatment center, transitional living center, host home, or even their own home. Until they are being treated and taken care of the way every single child in a healthy home is being taken care of, I will not stop. These kids deserve the best. They deserve a chance at life. To heal from their trauma. To dream. To have hope. To have a future that is bright. We are always looking for individuals to advocate with us by either bringing awareness, become a volunteer, or donate items.
