Novus Initium Who has not had a painful past? Who does not have a closet of former things made up of regrettable memories? Is it possible to become free from the past? Is it possible to get emotionally healed? Is it really possible? I mean, barring amnesia, can one forget emotional hurt? I am not going to answer these questions; rather, I think it calls for deep thinking of the implication of holding bitterness. Many people are going through emotional trauma! And when this happens, it leaves residue of regret, bitterness, stagnation, hatred, unforgiveness and sickness. All of these have negative impact on the individual and on the family as a whole. Emotional hurt can cause physical damage if not attended to. In developed economies, support groups are available. Unfortunately, this is not readily available in Nigeria; leaving people and their loved ones helpless. I am part of an initiative called Novus Initium, which is a platform especially for people who are 35 years and above, but single. Whether they are divorced, separated, a widow / widower, or never been married. It is a networking and support group, made up of people with similar experiences who are able to despite the challenges of life, willing to identify a new beginning; embrace change and chart a way forward over a period of time. Novus Initium is a Latin word for ‘NEW BEGINNIG’. It is set up to help people better manage their lives, reduce anxiety, improve self-esteem, and promote total well-being. We will seek to help restore and transform lives through strengthening our relationship with God by understanding / applying Christian principles to life’s situation; and providing platforms and opportunities for all to start again properly. Are you tired of that emotional burden? Come to Novus Initium. There is nothing as refreshing as the sprouting of new life and birthing of new opportunities. Nothing gives the heart a lift like New Beginnings. Even God encouraged us not to remember the former things; and that we should not consider the things of old.
