To apply: Send resumes to: richardsc@gdsiswitches Purpose: The purpose of the Supervisor position is to guide department operations to achieve company goals through proper coaching of staff; planning and scheduling, and maintaining a safe work environment. Priority: Produce parts that meet or exceed customer expectations for quality and on time delivery at the lowest possible cost. Reports to: Production Manager Direct Reports: Production operators Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Completes production plan as scheduled by production planner, accomplish work results, establish priorities, monitor progress, Revise schedules, resolve problems, report results of process flow to other team members in team meetings. 2. Manage in a professional, organized and flexible manner-must follow GDSI’s Vision/Mission. 3. Accomplish manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. 4. Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orientating, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities. 5. Maintain work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variable; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments. 6. Maintains quality service by enforcing & auditing organization standards. Ex.(S.O.P.s, Fast Trak, Q.O.F.s) 7. Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques. 8. Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests. 9. Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control and personnel compliance with established policies and procedures. 10. Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. Member of the safety team. 11. Resolves personnel problems by investigating issues, identifying solutions and recommending action. 12. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. 13. Manage non-conforming materials: Analyze, trend & feedback to employees and engineering, participate in corrective actions. Key tasks: 1. Maintain a positive, safe and efficient environment for employees. 2. Set a good example for employees by displaying a positive attitude and good attendance. Handle all issues in a professional manner. 3. Maintain Safety rules and practices. Ensure employees stretch and use proper ergonomic practices. 4. Record and maintain all documentation for employee injuries, discipline, complaints, reviews, etc. 5. Perform Lock out Tag out procedures when needed. 6. Drive constant quality improvements. 7. Lead in changing culture and Lean events. 8. Report any and all production delays to production supervisor or production manager. Assist with recovery plan to improve delays. 9. Maintain Quality. Training Supervisors will receive: 1. Vista-How to operate and understand GDSI’s ERP software. 2. Scheduling-Learn how to ensure orders are shipped on time to internal and external customers without compromising quality of parts or materials. 3. Quality Audits, Root Cause Analysis & Corrective actions. 4. Knowledge of scrap investigation process. 5. Employee paperwork -including reviews, personnel action forms, handbook, accidents, incidents and any other supervisory forms used by GDSI supervisors. 6. New employee training and current employee training. ***On occasion you may be asked to do other tasks on production floor. You will report to the supervisor of the department you have been asked to work in as well as your regular supervisor. *** Position Specifications: 1. Knowledge and the ability to manage. 2. Ability to effectively train and coach. 3. Effective verbal and written and communication skills. 4. Ability to interact well with people. 5. Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask. 6. Ability to work in a team environment. 7. Effective problem solving skills. 8. Ability to make sound decisions and motivate. 9. A general awareness of plant as a whole. 10. Good organizational skills. 11. Basic math and computer skills.
