Now Hiring – Quality Engineer II – Kansas City, MO – PMC13377 Leads and coordinates quality efforts in the support of the Operating Structure. Leadership through influence is the motivating direction. Helps to ensure the overall effectiveness of the quality for the plant is attained. Will ensure quality methods for process areas are adhered to through influence and recommendations. This individual is responsible to insure that the entire process takes place in a true partnering relationship with the appropriate team. The use of and mastery of facilitation skills will be required. The decisions will be made in a collaborative, consensus mode, team environment and will be utilized throughout all phases of the project. The modeling of behaviors such as living the values and eliminating unnecessary stressful situations emphasizing each other’s interdependence and support is mandatory. This individual is expected to demonstrate a participating, non-authoritarian style in which employees are encouraged and supported to make significant decisions. Job Summary Shared responsibility with process/resource group for existing and new process and product improvement. Serves as a facilitator and a resource to area personnel regarding quality issues such that any/all are brought to resolution. Help teams to foresee the defect and preventing them rather than appraising. Partners through collaboration, facilitation and consensus decision making by supporting and possibly participating in activities that would produce best in class manufacturing process. Collaborates with other teams on technical issues to maximize commonality and effectiveness. Fosters the partnering of decision making through consensus with the non-traditional quality positions. Key Result Areas Quality: Establishes activities that will improve the quality of the product measured by first run capability, KC and Buell PPM, dealer audit and warranty. Work Unit Performance: Develop and track appropriate quality measures, and use leadership skills to optimize the level of service provided by the Quality Organization. Customer Satisfaction: Heavy involvement with Process Groups, Engineering, Supply Chain Analyst and Supplier Quality. Problem identification and correction for customer related quality problems. Planning, Controlling, and Assuring Product and Process Quality (APQP) Pre-production or Pre-service planning process: Design input & review, validation & qualification. Train, coach and facilitate FMEA, Control Plan, DFM, DFA, PPAP, SPC, etc. Quality Engineer II Material control: Identification, status, MRB. Acceptance sampling: AOL, AOQL, Standards, Plans. Measurement system: Selection of technique, MSA, Traceability, CMM experience plus. Problem Solving and Quality Improvement: Approaches, Management & Planning tools, Quality Tools, Preventive and corrective actions, overcoming barriers Quantitative Methods: Probability and Statistics: Terms, Statistical conclusions, Basic probability concepts. Collecting and summarizing data: Data accuracy & integrity, descriptive statistics. Probability distributions: Properties & application of Discrete and continuous distributions. Statistical decision making: Point interval estimation, Hypothesis testing. Measuring and modeling relationships- Simple and multiple linear correlation & regression. Designing Experiments: ANOVA, Taguchi robustness concepts, Full and fractional experiments. Statistical Process Control: Selection, application, analysis of control charts, Pre-control and short-run SPC. Analyzing process Capability: Designing and conducting process capabilities, Calculating process performance vs. specification, performance and capability indices. Leadership and Management in Quality Engineering: Leading quality initiatives, team development, team organization. Quality philosophies and Cost of Quality. Customer and supplier relations, expectations, needs, etc. Quality Systems Development, implementation and Verification (ISO 9000 & Year 2000 Revision) Elements and documentation of quality system. Domestic and international standards. Quality Audits Expectations and Behaviors The candidate: Supports the Business Process, Partnership Agreement and their interdependence. Demonstrates commitment to continuously improving the working environment. Models teamwork, employee involvement and participation. Behaves open minded and open to influence. Adjust priorities accordingly. Education and training, as jointly determined appropriate, for partnering will be required and its use expected. Job Specifications This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, plus a minimum of three years experience; or a combination of relevant education and experience to equal a minimum of 11 years. The experience should include a working knowledge of Quality techniques, applications, and procedures (e.g. SPC, DOE, FMEA, IPPAP, Control Plan development, etc.). CQE is highly preferred.
